Vodka

Vodka was invented by the Russians in the 12th Century, it was originally called 'Zhiznennia Voda' which translates to mean 'water of life'.

Vodka is a popular base for cocktails as it lacks smell and its flavour allows it to mix well with other ingredients without altering there taste.

Vodka should always be served chilled, preferably in iced glasses.  Traditionally vodka was served in small short glasses that were used for toasting and then smashed against a wall.
